Yogyarta

We talk about certain cities being the heart and soul of their country and in Indonesia’s case Yogyakarta or ‘Jogja’ is the place. The art scene is vibrant and the food is varied and exciting. The city has grown over the years and holds many hidden secrets. The surroundings of the city are blessed with the incredible Borobudur and Prambanan temples where they still hold Ramayan ballet performances.

 

Your trip starts with an evening of traditional performances in front of the Prambanan temple by the incredible Ramayana ballet company. Back in the city you will enjoy a half day city tour that includes the Sultan’s palace in the old quarter near Kraton. While here you should have time to explore some of the streets in search of the renowned Yogyakarta’s silver smiths. After lunch you will head out of town to explore the magnificent temples of Borobadur and Prambanan.

ITINERARY DETAILS

Day 1: Arrive Yogyakarta

On arrival at Yogyakarta International Airport you will be met by an Asia for Expats representative who will then transfer you to your hotel. After a drive to Prambanan temple where you will enjoy a beautiful ballet performance by the Ramayana ballet, presented by over 200 dancers.

Day 2: Yogyakarta

Today you will start with a morning city tour. Take in the beautiful architecture; learn about the culture and some Javanese philosophy at Keraton in the old town where the Sultan is still in residence. In the late morning you travel out towards the temples of Borobudur and Prambanan stopping for lunch along the way. If there is enough time during the afternoon you will also see the temples of Mendut, Sambisari and Plaosan too before returning back to town.

Day 3: Depart Yogyakarta

Today you are free to enjoy your last day as you wish before you are transferred to the airport for your departing flight home.

Flights

Visa

A visa is required to enter Indonesia. Our team will happily advise you on visa requirements.

Passport

Please ensure your passport has a validity of at least six months beyond stay. Also at least one blank page for each of the countries you are visiting and 4 passport-size photos are needed.

Insurance

Please make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance adequate for your holidays and the activities you want to undertake. Your insurance must cover medical costs related to hospitalisation, repatriation and emergency travel.

Vaccinations

Please consult your doctor, clinic or your national Department of Health for recommended vaccinations and medication when travelling to Southeast Asia. It is important to arrange the necessary appointments well in advance of your trip.

Currency

US Dollars (USD) are accepted in some places in Indonesia. You can exchange US Dollars for the local currency Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) once you arrive. For currency conversion please click here.
