Mai Chau

Mai Chau is a mountainous region located in the Northwest region of Vietnam approximately 135 km from Ha Noi. Around 50,000 people inhabit this valley including 7 ethnic minorities groups but mainly consisting of the ‘white Thai’ people – Ban Lac people’s Thai ancestors that settled in North Vietnam.

Mai Chau is known for its stilt houses made of bamboo and timber, impressive lush green and rural scenery and traditional crafts. Its peaceful atmosphere and green hills make it a perfect choice for those looking for relaxation and some good treks and easy cycling.
