Land of the Rising Dragon

Koh Rong

Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem are two islands located about 20 and 25 km respectively off the coast in the Gulf of Thailand. These islands have developed into prime holiday destinations with pristine white beaches, clear blue water and very limited development. A number of TV shows have been filmed in these islands due to their incredible beauty; in fact a production company has set up permanent quarters in the islands.

Koh Rong has earned a reputation as a party island over the past years; however this is mainly due to the growing number of guesthouses in Koh Touch Beach, a sandy paradise located at the southeast of the island. Nevertheless the rest of the island can’t be labelled the same way, as it offers several quiet spots to stay  after a hard day sipping on cocktails in paradise.

Koh Rong Samloem is located 4 kilometres south of Koh Rong. Even though it is considerably smaller, this island has some pretty amazing spots to gaze at the turquoise water from a hammock. Saracen Bay is the main beach and where most of the restaurants and bars operate. On the western side Lazy and Sunset beach are the perfect spots to watch the sunset every evening.
