Ho Chi Minh

Ho Chi Minh formally known as Saigon is Vietnam’s largest and most populated city doubling the capital Hanoi. If you are visiting Ho Chi Minh for the first time, then you could be in for a bit of a surprise as this is the hustle and bustle capital of the world. Find yourself a bar or restaurant with a good vantage point and just watch the world go by in fast forward as some of the 2 million registered motos and scooters whizz by.

During this city break you will experience three contrasting aspects of the city. First you will discover Saigon by night and experience all the sights, smells and tastes on the Vespa night food tour. Eat, drink and do what the locals do! Next day discover the city and its main sights on a half day tour before getting a glimpse of what life was like for the Viet Cong during the Vietnam war with America by taking a trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Whatever you do while in town just make sure you enjoy a tasty bowl of Pho!

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Day 1: Arrive HCMC & Saigon Vespa Night Food Tour

On arrival in Ho Chi Minh you will be met by an Asia for Expats representative and transferred to your hotel. In the evening your introduction to Ho Chi Minh starts with a Vespa night food tour. Throughout the night, you will get the opportunity to try a variety of local of foods and drinks at various restaurants and sample Saigon’s best authentic street food. (This tour includes free drinks and all you can eat, so come with an appetite!)

Day Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City & Cu Chi Tunnels

After breakfast, you will embark on a morning city tour and take in the city’s main attractions from the War Museum, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Old Central Post Office and the Ben Thanh Market. After lunch you will visit the underground Cu Chi Tunnels located 70km northwest of the city; built in 1948 to assist the Viet Minh combat the French. Explore one of the tunnels if you dare!

Day 3: Depart Ho Chi Minh City

Today you are free to enjoy your last day as you wish, until we pick you up and transfer you to the airport with plenty of time before your departing flight.

  • Pop by the 3A station which is a collection of arty shops, fashion and cafes before it is bulldozed.
  • Get yourself to ‘A O’, an incredible acrobatic music and dance sensation at Saigon’s Opera House.

Flights

Visa

A visa is required to enter Vietnam. Our team will happily advise you on visa requirements.

Passport

Please ensure your passport has a validity of at least six months beyond stay. Also at least one blank page for each of the countries you are visiting and 4 passport-size photos are needed.

Insurance

Please make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance adequate for your holidays and the activities you want to undertake. Your insurance must cover medical costs related to hospitalisation, repatriation and emergency travel.

Vaccinations

Please consult your doctor, clinic or your national Department of Health for recommended vaccinations and medication when travelling to Southeast Asia. It is important to arrange the necessary appointments well in advance of your trip.

Currency

US Dollars (USD) are accepted in some places in Vietnam. You can exchange US Dollars for the local currency Vietnamese Dong (VND) once you arrive. For currency conversion please click here.
