Gibbons Adventure

Looking for a Cambodian wildlife adventure? Look no further as our unique Gibbon Spotting tour is something not to be missed. You will travel to the wilds of Cambodia’s North-East in search of an intimate encounter with one of the world’s rarest primates the ‘Yellow Cheeked’ gibbon. During your adventure you will navigate rivers, get an insight in to local forest life and spend a night in the jungle.

This tour is perfect for those who are interested in wildlife and only have a few days to experience Cambodia’s incredible diversity in a short space of time. The trek is suitable for all ages ranging from 8 years up to 68 as long as you have a reasonable level of fitness.

You will not only experience an encounter with the gibbons but on this trip you will get to visit the beautiful Yaek Lom volcanic crater lake and take a dip in its cool waters. If time allows and your flight is later during the day there is also the opportunity to include a quick stop at the impressive Beng Mealea temple complex before heading to the airport.

ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Day 1: Arrive Siem Reap & travel to Ban Lung

Arrive in Siem Reap where you will be met by an Asia for Expats representative. Directly from the airport we start our journey to Ban Lung stopping in Stung Treng for lunch. On arrival in Ban Lung you have time to freshen up in the hotel pool before your gibbon trek meet and greet.

Day 2: Ban Lung to Gibbon Spotting Trek

On your Gibbon Spotting adventure you will take a car, boat and moto to get all the way to your jungle camp. Along the way you will see traditional villages, buffalo cooling off on the banks of the river and lots of bird life. Once at camp in the Veun Sai-Siem Pang Conservation Area you have time to explore the area with your guide before settling down to an early night and some home cooked food prepared by your private chef.

Day 3: Gibbon Spotting Trek & Yaek Lom Lake

Rising early in the morning you’ll have time for a quick coffee before leaving camp and trekking to the edge of the jungle savanna where the gibbons get ready to begin their morning call. After tracking the gibbons, you can spend up to 2 hours watching them swing through the trees above your head; an exhilarating experience and one of the best primate spotting opportunities in the world. After time with these incredible animals you’ll return to camp and back to Ban Lung in time for a late lunch.
In the afternoon after freshening up from your jungle adventure you will visit the beautiful volcanic crater lake of Yaek Lom. Once here you will have time to walk around the lake or go for a swim before returning back to your hotel.

Day 4: Ban Lung to Depart Siem Reap

This morning your driver will pick you up and drive you all the way back to Siem Reap retracing our steps. Along the way you will stop off for a local lunch before heading to the airport for your departing flight home.

Flights

Visa

A visa is required to enter Cambodia, the current cost is $30. Our team will happily advise you on visa requirements.

Passport

Please ensure your passport has a validity of at least six months beyond stay. Also at least one blank page for each of the countries you are visiting and 4 passport-size photos are needed.

Insurance

Please make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance adequate for your holidays and the activities you want to undertake. Your insurance must cover medical costs related to hospitalisation, repatriation and emergency travel.

Vaccinations

Please consult your doctor, clinic or your national Department of Health for recommended vaccinations and medication when travelling to Southeast Asia. It is important to arrange the necessary appointments well in advance of your trip.

Currency

US Dollars (USD) are widely accepted in Cambodia as well as the local currency Khmer Riel (KHR). For currency conversion please click here.

Only once you are fully happy with your tailor-made itinerary you will receive an invoice. In order to secure availability for your booking, tour, activities and accommodation we require a 20% deposit.
