Battambang

Situated only 3 hours or so from Siem ReapBattambang is the perfect place to see another alternative side to Cambodia. The province is known as Cambodia’s rice bowl and it is believed to have the best farming lands in the Kingdom. Despite this and many people living in the area the town has a very relaxed and laid back feel to it.

On this tour you have a little bit of everything, starting with a sunset tour and a night in Siem Reap. Before traveling south west to the sleepy riverside town of Battambang. Once in town you will get to discover the surrounding area and visit the hill side temple of Wat Banan, Phnom Samphou as well as having a fun ride on the bamboo train. You will also enjoy some good food and stroll along the Stung Sange river to take in some of the lovely architecture.

ITINERARY DETAILS

Day 1: Arrive Siem Reap & Pre Rup Temple

On arrival in Siem Reap you will be met by an Asia for Expats representative and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon you will enjoy an introduction to the temples and sunset at Pre Rup Temple. Once the sun sets our guide can take you back to your hotel or into town.

Day 2: Siem Reap to Battambang

You will start the day with a journey to Battambang, Cambodia’s rice bowl. From here we will take you to see the hill top temple of Wat Banan before enjoying a local lunch in town. In the afternoon you will take a ride on the famous bamboo train and feel like a true free spirit as you race along the bumpy tracks.

Day 3: Battambang to Siem Reap and departure

This morning, you will begin by exploring Crocodile Mountain or Phnom Samphou; home to the killing caves of the Khmer Rouge as well as a steady stream of thousands of bats which leave the cave at sundown each day. After enjoying the views of the surrounding rice fields we’ll stop for lunch and have a walk along the riverside before returning to Siem Reap and catching your departing flight home.

  •  Watch the film ‘First they Killed my Father’ directed by Angelina Jolie to be released later in 2016 and see if you can recognise any of the sights of the town.

Flights

Visa

A visa is required to enter Cambodia, the current cost is $30. Our team will happily advise you on visa requirements.

Passport

Please ensure your passport has a validity of at least six months beyond stay. Also at least one blank page for each of the countries you are visiting and 4 passport-size photos are needed.

Insurance

Please make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance adequate for your holidays and the activities you want to undertake. Your insurance must cover medical costs related to hospitalisation, repatriation and emergency travel.

Vaccinations

Please consult your doctor, clinic or your national Department of Health for recommended vaccinations and medication when travelling to Southeast Asia. It is important to arrange the necessary appointments well in advance of your trip.
